About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic and operational leadership within the Surface Transportation organization
- Lead technical managers and multidisciplinary teams delivering bridge and structures projects
- Execute the Annual Operating Plan, including revenue, margin, utilization, and backlog targets
- Oversee engineering and technical services during proposal, design, quality control, and construction phases
- Drive pursuit selection and delivery performance
- Manage team-level revenue, profitability, indirect spend, and workforce planning
- Align staffing with backlog forecasts and strategic growth
- Implement consistent tools, processes, and accountability mechanisms
- Anticipate transportation trends and position the organization for market shifts
- Provide executive-level oversight of bridge and structure projects, including scope, schedule, quality, and risk management
- Guide managers and technical leads through complex engineering, constructability, and client challenges
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across geographies and disciplines
- Ensure independent quality control and technical review practices
- Promote technical rigor and continuous improvement
- Execute strategic growth initiatives and participate in high-value pursuits
- Strengthen relationships with DOTs, agencies, and strategic partners
- Support client expansion and entry into new markets
- Lead and develop Technical Managers and team leaders
- Conduct management meetings, one-on-ones, talent assessments, succession planning, and performance reviews
- Support hiring, workforce growth planning, and strategic resourcing
- Foster a safe, inclusive, high-performance culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 12+ years of experience in transportation engineering and project delivery
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing managers and multidisciplinary teams
- Proven ability to oversee complex transportation projects and align delivery with financial performance
- Strong client-facing presence and ability to influence strategic pursuits
- Experience managing operating budgets, workforce planning, and performance metrics
- High business acumen
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
- Ability to embrace and apply evolving technology and AI tools
- Leadership capability in strategic thinking, accountability, communication, collaboration, prioritization, and developing managers
