About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a technical leader for system protection engineering
  • Lead the full scope of protective relay settings and coordination studies
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work
  • Perform short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis
  • Perform time-current and step-distance coordination
  • Develop and coordinate relay settings
  • Develop test plans and assist with commissioning
  • Analyze and troubleshoot protection system events
  • Develop NERC PRC compliance reports
  • Develop protection schemes for transmission, distribution, generation, and renewable energy sources
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • ABET accredited program or equivalent required
  • PE License required or ability to obtain a PE License within 1 year of start date
  • A minimum of 7-9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Proven experience in system modeling and fault analysis software (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, or EasyPower)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Strong knowledge of system modeling, relay coordination studies, and protective relay settings for systems ranging from 12.47 kV to 345 kV
  • Experience applying protection system engineering practices in transmission line, bus, transformer, capacitor bank, reactor bank, feeder, generator, motor, or communication-assisted protection schemes
  • Familiarity with NERC PRC standards for compliance
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the year
  • Ability to work in a high-paced team environment
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US
  • Must have a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain prior to starting date
