About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Test, troubleshoot, and certify 3-phase revenue meters
  • Create, modify, and review SLD, 3LD, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Estimate and review labor and equipment for project budgets
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members
  • Prepare and review material and equipment purchase specifications
  • Program revenue and check meters for complex system losses and read revenue and real-time data
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and certify revenue and check meters and electronic data recorders
  • Develop, maintain, and review metering standards, trainings, procedures, and safety practices
  • Verify wiring and meter accuracy for commercial and utility-scale installations
  • Investigate metering problems, make repairs, advise customers, and assist with troubleshooting
  • Conduct and guide Factory Acceptance Testing of communication parameters and revenue data output
  • Train and mentor engineers and technicians on meter applications using a portable test kit
  • Design and review metering panels
  • Provide training on discipline-specific software
  • Inspect meter panels for client requirements, applicable codes, and AHJ compliance
  • Establish and maintain schedules and provide timely progress reports
  • Work independently in the field while coordinating with clients
  • Maintain safety compliance of field equipment
  • Share knowledge and present relevant topics to the team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Two-year technical degree with an engineering background or bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in revenue metering
  • Metering Inspector certification/badge preferred, including ERCOT EPS Meter Inspector certification or CAISO Authorized Inspector
  • Expertise in metering design concepts
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, set priorities, and delegate work
  • Excellent communication, time management, attention to detail, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor multiple individuals
  • Ability to read, trace, modify, and create engineering design drawings, including SLD, 3LD, logic diagrams, and DC schematics related to meters
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards
  • Ability to travel nationwide to project sites, with a focus on Texas and/or California
  • Minimum 50% travel
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform ladder use and tailboard safety checks
