About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a subset of substation engineers and technicians to foster leadership development and team growth
- Manage and lead engineering activities during proposal, design, and construction stages
- Provide project oversight, manage engineering scope, develop change orders, and maintain project schedules
- Direct and coordinate several engineering disciplines and the Project Management group on significant or multiple large projects
- Maintain quality and responsiveness to internal and external client requirements
- Oversee team design activities and review project drawings, calculations, and specifications
- Assume responsible charge as needed
- Provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical services oversight for employees
- Coach, train, and develop substation technical staff
- Facilitate weekly or bi-weekly team meetings and manage team resource planning
- Conduct individual performance reviews and support training and professional development
- Partner with Sales and engineers to promote revenue growth and expand services
- Support proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals
- Maintain positive relationships with existing clients
- Report to the Substation Associate Director or Technical Manager
- Interact with sales, marketing, account management, and project management business units
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering required from ABET accredited university or equivalent
- 6+ years of experience in the Engineering field preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, strongly preferred
- Must be analytical and self-motivated
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude
- Strong analytic and information management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies
- Ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness
- Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
- Proven experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Additional software knowledge depending on specialty
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the US
- Openness to innovation and ability to apply evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement
