About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform medication-related tasks under the direct supervision of a technician supervisor and pharmacist
  • Package and prepare all forms of medications
  • Process orders using the pharmacy computer system
  • Deliver patient medications and stock automated medication stations (Pyxis machines)
  • Troubleshoot routine technical problems with pharmacy technology and equipment
  • Prepare sterile products using aseptic technique, including parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, and other IV drugs
  • Maintain inventory, reorder and restock medications, and monitor expiration dates
  • Maintain required documentation and patient confidentiality
  • Assist in generating pharmacy reports
  • Conduct medication room inspections
  • Assemble drugs accurately and efficiently for pharmacist review
  • Repackage bulk drugs in unit-of-use containers
  • Assist with quality indicator monitoring and yearly inventory
  • Participate in problem-solving, operational improvement, Continuous Quality Improvement activities, and teams
  • Comply with departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and regulatory requirements
  • Attend required meetings, conferences, and seminars
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, professional, tolerant, civil, and accepting work environment
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successfully completed a Board-approved pharmacy technician-training program
  • Passing score on a Board-approved pharmacy technician assessment exam
  • Proficient in math
  • Knowledge and ability to use a computer for data entry
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency, and dependability
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Work is considered sedentary and requires working indoors in a normal office environment
