About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy procedures using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Review physician requisitions and orders to ensure appropriate tests are drawn and meet Medical Necessity guidelines
- Prepare Advance Beneficiary Notices for tests that do not meet Medical Necessity guidelines and obtain signatures
- Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing procedures
- Complete associated quality control and instrumentation maintenance
- Process specimens through centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, labeling, and packaging
- Provide patient data and insurance information for specimen registration
- Create registrations for outreach specimens in the ADT system when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School graduate
- Successful completion of a recognized program for training in phlebotomy
- Basic life support certification required within 3 months of employment
- Maintenance of annual competencies in BLS
- Ability to work 5:30am–2pm Monday through Friday, every other weekend and holiday
- May be required to travel and work at other locations and campuses as needed by the department
