About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, deliver, and manage direct patient care using the nursing process and nursing practice standards
- Utilize the nursing process to manage patient care from admission to discharge
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments
- Develop and coordinate individualized care and discharge plans
- Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care in the assigned clinical setting
- Delegate appropriately according to job descriptions and competency levels
- Document patient care
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care
- Administer medications; perform treatments and therapies; operate equipment; and assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and special tests
- Participate in Nursing Governance activities
- Support professional growth and assist with staff education and development
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and apply quality improvement in daily operations
- Comply with departmental policies, procedures, objectives, health and safety regulations, and meeting requirements
- Maintain professionalism, respect, civility, tolerance, and acceptance toward employees, patients, and visitors
- Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration
- Current BLS certification for every RN, unless current ACLS certification is held, plus unit-specific certifications and competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support)
- Must be eligible to obtain CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) upon hire and obtain it within 12 months of hire or by 1/31/2029, whichever is earlier
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in a full-service hospital emergency department
- Provide traditional clinical emergency services at a full-service hospital emergency department (Marlborough Campus) for at least 25% of total working hours per year
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing
- Ability to perform medium physical work indoors in a patient care environment
- Ability to maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred
