About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, deliver, and manage direct patient care using the nursing process and standards of nursing practice
  • Use the nursing process to manage patient care from admission to discharge
  • Perform patient assessments and reassessments
  • Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning
  • Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care in the assigned clinical setting
  • Delegate appropriately according to job descriptions and competency levels
  • Document patient care
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care
  • Administer medications; perform treatments and therapies; operate equipment according to policy and procedure
  • Assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and special tests
  • Participate in and support Nursing Governance activities
  • Pursue professional growth and assist with staff education and development
  • Participate in performance-improvement initiatives and apply quality improvement in daily operations
  • Comply with departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and health and safety requirements
  • Attend required meetings, conferences, and seminars
  • Maintain professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward employees, patients, and visitors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration
  • BLS certification required for every RN unless current ACLS certification is held, in addition to unit-specific certifications and competencies
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support)
  • Must be eligible to obtain CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) upon hire; if not certified upon hire, must obtain within 12 months of hire or by 1/31/2029, whichever is earlier
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in a full-service hospital emergency department
  • Provide traditional clinical emergency services at a full-service hospital emergency department (Marlborough Campus) for at least 25% of total working hours per year
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing
  • Ability to maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  • Must comply with health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Must work indoors in a patient care environment and meet medium physical demands
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing highly preferred
