About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, deliver, and manage direct patient care using the nursing process and standards of nursing practice
- Utilize the Nursing Process to manage patient care from admission to discharge
- Perform patient assessment and reassessment according to standard procedure
- Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning
- Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the assigned clinical setting
- Delegate appropriately according to job descriptions and competency levels
- Document patient care according to standard procedure
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others
- Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other healthcare providers
- Administer medications, perform treatments and therapies, and operate equipment according to policy and procedure
- Assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and special tests
- Participate in and support Nursing Governance activities
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and assist in staff education and development
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and apply quality improvement in daily operations
- Comply with departmental policies, procedures, objectives, health and safety regulations, and meeting requirements
- Respect diverse views and contribute to a professional, tolerant, civil, and accepting environment
- Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration
- BLS certification required for every RN unless current ACLS certification is held, in addition to unit-specific certifications and competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support)
- Must be eligible to obtain CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) upon hire and obtain it within 12 months of hire or by 1/31/2029, whichever is earlier
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in a full-service hospital emergency department
- Provide traditional clinical emergency services at a full-service hospital emergency department (Marlborough Campus) for at least 25% of total working hours per year
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing
- Work indoors in a patient care environment
- Medium physical work demands
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred
