About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, deliver, and manage direct patient care using the nursing process and nursing practice standards
  • Utilize the Nursing Process for patient care from admission to discharge, appropriate to patient developmental age
  • Perform patient assessments and reassessments
  • Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning
  • Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care in the assigned clinical setting
  • Delegate appropriately according to job descriptions and competency levels
  • Document patient care according to standard procedures
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others
  • Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other healthcare providers
  • Administer medications; perform treatments and therapies; operate equipment according to policy and procedure
  • Assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and special tests
  • Participate in and support Nursing Governance activities
  • Maintain professional growth and assist with staff education and development
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and apply quality improvement in daily operations
  • Comply with departmental policies, procedures, objectives, health and safety regulations, and requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration
  • Current BLS certification for every RN, unless current ACLS certification is held, plus unit-specific certifications and competencies
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support)
  • Must be eligible to obtain CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) upon hire and obtain it within 12 months of hire or by 1/31/2029, whichever is earlier
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a full-service hospital emergency department
  • Provide traditional clinical emergency services at a full-service hospital emergency department (Marlborough Campus) for at least 25% of total working hours per year
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred
  • Ability to work indoors in a patient care environment
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
