Ultrasound Technologist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care services and related departmental support under the supervision of the Lead Ultrasound Technologist
- Perform ultrasound techniques and examinations in inpatient and outpatient settings according to departmental and professional standards
- Gather pertinent clinical data and maintain accurate patient records
- Complete records, paperwork, and billing accurately and promptly
- Position and transfer patients and assist physicians with interventional examinations
- Complete examinations, perform image quality control, and send exams to PACS for radiologist review
- Assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided interventional procedures
- Follow hospital universal protocol
- Maintain inventory and arrange purchases of needed supplies
- Monitor equipment and ensure required supplies are available
- Sterilize and cleanse probes according to department policy
- Assist with film processing, urgent requests, scheduling, and other job-related duties
- Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support
- Attend required meetings, conferences, and seminars
- Demonstrate quality improvement in daily operations and comply with health and safety requirements
- Support clinical operations at the Nashoba/Groton campus, with pediatric ultrasound training and competency validation at the University Campus as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasonography or Radiological Technology program
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in one category within one year of hire date
- Minimum one year of experience in diagnostic ultrasound under the direction of a qualified physician
- Knowledge of Physics and Instrumentation and Abdominal OB/Gyn Ultrasound for ARDMS exams
- Ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting
- Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families
- Ability to work Monday through Friday and every other weekend
- Ability to travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled
- Ability to complete pediatric ultrasound orientation, training, and competency validation at the University Campus
- Ability to maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
