About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide guidance and promote awareness of safety policies and procedures through training, the development and review of procedures, and on-the-job guidance
- Authorize hazardous work, conduct field inspections, verify technical and occupational health documentation, maintain records, and guide employees and service providers
- Monitor the PPRA and the planning of environmental and chemical monitoring activities
- Participate in initiatives that promote the safety, health, and well-being of people exposed to risks
- Conduct safety inspections and assessments of workplaces, rescue equipment, chemical emergency response equipment, and fire protection systems
- Guide and monitor the correction of deviations, and control equipment expiration dates, replacements, and suppliers
- Analyze positions and activities to identify risks and apply applicable legislation, including NR 09, NR 17, NR 06, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 45001
- Review service provider documentation and authorize companies to access the site; conduct induction sessions
- Lead incident and accident review and investigation meetings, identifying root causes and actions to eliminate or minimize risks
- Participate in internal and external EHS audits and accompany technical site visits
- Coordinate an Emergency Response Brigade, planning annual training sessions and drills
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed technical qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- Training as a Civil Firefighter
- Experience in industrial environments, including hazardous-work authorization procedures, chemical emergency response, and ergonomics practices
- Certifications and licenses in Fire Prevention and Firefighting – NR 23
- Certifications and licenses as a Confined Space Entry Supervisor – NR 33
- Certifications and licenses for Working at Heights – NR 35
- Certifications and licenses in High-Angle and Confined-Space Rescue under NRs 33 and 35
- Certifications and licenses in Emergency Response involving Hazardous Materials
