About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee all Health, Safety, and Environment matters at the Bruges site
- Combine the Safety Prevention Advisor and Environmental Coordinator functions within USMB
- Manage Bruges plant security
- Set up, implement, and manage the site safety strategy and management system
- Sensitize and motivate employees to foster a proactive safety culture
- Monitor and report safety performance metrics and KPIs
- Implement and follow up on Umicore Group Standards
- Take final responsibility for the intervention and EHBO teams
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety audits for chemical and process risks
- Ensure site policies comply with environmental legal and Umicore Group requirements
- Acquire and maintain environmental and building permits
- Manage legal and group communications and reports
- Maintain ISO 14001 certification
- Act as the USMB EHS contact inside and outside Umicore
- Represent Umicore and USMB in sectorial organizations and professional associations
- Maintain relations with local government and city services
- Serve as the USMB contact with external Occupational Health Services
- Implement Umicore Group standards across the site and collaborate with management to create and enforce safety policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master degree in a technical branch or equivalent by experience
- Officially accredited Safety Prevention Advisor – level 1 degree
- At least 5 years of operational managerial experience
- Solid knowledge of applicable regional, national, and European legislation
- Strong interest in chemicals and chemical processes
- Good spoken and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate persuasively and tactfully at all levels of the site and hierarchy
- Ability to set up, present, and defend a strategy
- Ability to coordinate implementation and combine short- and long-term visions
- Good project management and people management skills
- Responsible and decisive
- Ability to reconcile environmental and safety values with industrial/economic objectives
