About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a financial leader of the health system by providing daily guidance and strategic consultation to operational leadership
- Assist with development of financial goals and objectives for assigned operational area
- Manage preparation of assigned operational areas' fiscal year budget, including capital items
- Perform variance/gap analysis and reporting for assigned operational area
- Work with operational area leaders to implement financial plans and productivity benchmarks and monitor progress toward financial goals
- Assist with reviews of operational areas' proposed contracts and value analysis proposals
- Support effective revenue cycle and supply chain processes
- Support strategic financial planning as a component of the strategic planning process
- Implement strategies and systems to improve financial performance
- Work as part of UMMC's financial leadership team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Four (4) years hospital financial management experience
- Knowledge of federal, state, and hospital financial regulations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, techniques, and standards
- Interpersonal skill to interact with a wide range of constituencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and implement strategic business and operating plans
- Ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and modify financial programs, informational support systems, and processes
- Ability to provide consultation and recommendation to senior leadership
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across organizational lines
- Comprehension of supply chain models and innovation, understanding and ability to implement innovative healthcare payment models
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions in a healthcare environment
- Experience with physician compensation and incentive plans
- Occasional travel to offsite locations
- Preferred: Master’s degree in accounting, business or healthcare administration
- Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Previous experience in facilities finance management is preferred
