About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and continuously enhance project and portfolio risk management frameworks, standards, processes, and governance across the full project lifecycle
- Conduct cross-project and portfolio-level risk analyses to identify systemic risks, interdependencies, emerging exposures, and critical risk drivers
- Translate risk insights into actionable recommendations for project and senior leadership
- Develop and manage risk management tools and processes integrating risk registers, project schedules, milestones, cost estimates, and portfolio reporting
- Lead quantitative schedule and cost risk analyses (QSRA/QCRA), including Monte Carlo simulations
- Assess risk exposure and establish appropriate risk budgets and contingency requirements
- Interpret and communicate quantitative risk outputs, including P20/P50/P80 confidence levels, probability distributions, sensitivity analyses, tornado charts, and schedule and cost drivers
- Provide technical leadership and risk advisory support to project risk professionals and multidisciplinary project teams
- Facilitate risk workshops and challenge risk assessments, assumptions, and mitigation strategies
- Advise project and senior leadership at key project stage gates and decision points
- Coordinate interfaces between project, asset, operational, enterprise, and financial risk disciplines
- Ensure appropriate escalation and integrated risk reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a comparable discipline
- Several years of relevant experience in senior project risk management
- Experience in energy, power, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or other complex capital project environments is ideal
- Proven expertise in project and portfolio risk management
- Experience providing technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to other risk professionals
- Strong knowledge of risk management methodologies and standards such as PMI, PRINCE2, and ISO 31000
- Hands-on expertise in QSRA, QCRA, and Monte Carlo simulations
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, critical path methodology, project controls, and integrated project planning
- Practical experience using quantitative risk analysis and integrated project risk management tools
- Experience with Planisware or comparable solutions is advantageous
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent written and spoken German and English
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across Europe
- Ability to respond flexibly to project-specific requirements
