About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide support to Direct & Indirect tax teams by gathering, processing and analysing data for corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes, customs & excise, and environmental tax compliance
- Upload data into tax return software and start tax return preparation processes
- Identify tax-sensitive items and process them for monthly, quarterly and annual tax compliance
- Reconcile tax payments and prepare manual payment requests for approval
- Analyse the impact of new tax law announcements
- Support implementation of processes required for tax law changes
- Support digitalisation of UK tax processes
- Complete standard tax compliance application forms
- Monitor compliance deadlines and processes
- Work with the wider tax team and business to help ensure UK group compliance with relevant tax legislation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified ATT/AAT or studying one of those or a comparable qualification
- Experience with, and developing knowledge of, UK corporation tax, VAT and/or employment taxes gained within an accountancy firm or within a major corporate group
- Strong communication skills with an ability to convey tax within a business context
- Driven to develop a career within tax
- Ability and willingness to improve tax technical knowledge, techniques and processes
- Interest in process digitalisation
- Desirable: experience of working within an in-house tax team with broad UK tax experience
- Desirable: experience of SAP, Alteryx, MS Power and Thomson Reuters Onesource Corporation Tax and Indirect Tax compliance software
- Desirable: ability to establish and maintain a network of contacts within the tax function, wider UK business, external service providers and industry peers
