About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform advanced clinical laboratory testing, analysis, and result validation
- Provide input on day-to-day scheduling and create departmental/section schedules as needed
- Identify staff performance or behavioral issues and provide feedback to staff, supervisors, or management
- Lead quality control and quality assurance processes, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
- Optimize laboratory workflows and operational processes to improve efficiency, turnaround times, and service quality
- Develop and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and documentation standards
- Collaborate with laboratory leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders on department goals, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Provide technical expertise, training, and mentorship to laboratory staff and students
- Support resource planning, inventory management, and budget input
- Resolve complex laboratory issues using independent judgment and advanced technical expertise
- Support regulatory readiness, accreditation standards, audit readiness, and accurate documentation
- Safeguard sensitive data and support cybersecurity and data protection requirements
- Assume additional supervisory responsibilities in the absence of an on-site supervisor
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to meet department and organizational needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree
- NYSED-OP Clinical Laboratory Technologist License
- At least 5 years of direct experience performing the exact or very similar duties required by the job within the same role or function
- At least 4 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- At least 5 years of healthcare experience working in the healthcare industry in any job function
- At least 3 years of related experience in a role or field that provides transferable skills or knowledge relevant to the position
- Maintain NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure
- Fulfill all continuing education and competency requirements in accordance with state regulations
- Complete required training, certifications, and competency validations within established timeframes
- Adhere to CLIA, New York State Department of Health, and organizational policies
- Preferred: ASCP Specialist Certification in any discipline
- Preferred: At least 3 years of project/operations leadership experience
