About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Accurately dispense prescription medications according to physician orders and pharmacy regulations
- Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, storage, and adherence
- Provide immunizations and health screenings in compliance with state laws and pharmacy protocols
- Manage and verify insurance claims and prior authorizations
- Maintain complete and confidential patient medication records in compliance with HIPAA
- Oversee retail pharmacy operations, including inventory management, ordering, and pharmaceutical storage
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and pharmacy accreditation standards
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and resolve prescription issues
- Educate pharmacy staff and technicians on policies, procedures, and best practices
- Respond to patient inquiries and provide advice on over-the-counter medications and general health concerns
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s of Science Degree (B.S.) or Pharm.D. in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State or NYS internship permit
- One year experience as a pharmacist (preferred)
