About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide online course facilitation for pre-licensure Workforce Development Programs and/or BSN and MSN programs in CA, ID, UT, NM, AZ, NV, and MI
  • Instruct students using existing curriculum for assigned classes
  • Improve quality of instruction through different and innovative methodologies and teaching techniques
  • Assist with reviewing and revising syllabi and instructional guidelines
  • Evaluate students’ progress toward curriculum and course objectives and communicate progress in a timely manner
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives
  • Maintain student attendance and grade records and assist with program data collection
  • Use the Learning Management System to deliver relevant and current course content
  • Provide ongoing student communication through office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
  • Participate in professional development, maintain CE hours for renewed licensure, and stay current with college updates
  • Work with a multicultural and multigenerational student body
  • Serve as subject matter expert for university and accreditation requirements/reporting
  • Serve on curriculum and evaluation committee
  • Conduct weekly recorded synchronous sessions via Zoom, MS Teams, WebEx, or similar distance modalities for courses with unit/final exams
  • Hold a minimum of four office hours weekly
  • Conduct exam analysis and reviews for all exams within assigned course
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Living OUTSIDE of the state of CA is required
  • California RN License preferred or ability to obtain a current California RN License is required
  • Registered Nurse with current and unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure or eligible in all states where Workforce Development programs are established
  • Registered Nurse with current and unencumbered licensure in California
  • Eligible for approval by CA BRN as Instructor for Medical-Surgical, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health, or Geriatrics
  • Master's Degree in Nursing required
  • Terminal Degree in Nursing (DNP, EdD, PhD) preferred
  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by California's Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice
  • Ability to mentor students
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous pre-licensure nursing online teaching experience required utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Documented background in educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments, including education theory and practice, current concepts relative to subjects taught, current clinical practice experience, and distance education techniques and delivery
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS Office products as needed
