About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide a learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or lab under the supervision of the Dean of General Education
- Use lectures, demonstrations, audiovisual aids, and technological tools to support instruction
- Follow the established curriculum and syllabus while keeping students engaged
- Create a positive educational climate and communicate clear learning objectives
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals
- Manage student behavior in classroom and online settings
- Observe and evaluate student performance
- Identify and refer at-risk students to the Student Success Coordinator
- Provide student advisement and academic counseling through tutoring and mentoring
- Grade tests and projects, maintain grade books, track attendance, and perform administrative duties
- Administer oral, written, or performance tests
- Participate in conferences, seminars, training sessions, education in-services, distance education in-service, and professional development activities
- Provide input to and participate in academic committees
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Masters’ degree or higher from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) required
- A minimum of 15 credit hours or equivalent in the assigned subject area required
- In Georgia, Ohio, Texas and Virginia: Master’s degree in the discipline OR a Master’s degree in any discipline with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework relevant to the discipline
- Two years of practical experience in the course content area with a related degree, or three years of practical experience if the degree is in an unrelated field required
- A minimum of three years of work experience as an educator preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
