About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and process proposal submissions to external sponsors
- Review and facilitate establishment and administration of externally sponsored awards
- Ensure financial and programmatic components comply with institutional, state, and sponsor guidelines and regulations
- Guide principal investigators and departmental support staff on proposal components, budgets, scopes of work, research strategy, allowable costs, and biosketches
- Review compliance matters including Conflict of Interest, IRB, IACUC, and institutional biosafety approval
- Provide oversight of electronic systems used by external sponsors
- Finalize proposal reviews and facilitate timely submissions to meet sponsor deadlines
- Finalize sponsored program awards and agreements, align terms and conditions with institutional guidelines, and negotiate agreement language as necessary
- Facilitate execution of awards and agreements by the University's Authorized Organizational Representative
- Administer financial and administrative components of active sponsored programs, including budget adjustments, scope or personnel changes, extensions, subawards, reporting, and closeout documentation
- Communicate with investigators, departmental support staff, and Sponsored Programs Administration personnel to provide efficient customer support
- Exercise delegated signature authority and submit proposals and non-financial post-award actions binding the university and/or research foundation
- Support basic, applied/translational research, instruction and training activities, and other sponsored activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of institutional processes and federal requirements for proposal and award compliance
- Ability to review budgets, scopes of work, research strategies, allowability of costs, and biosketches
- Knowledge of Conflict of Interest, human subjects/IRB, animal subjects/IACUC, and institutional biosafety requirements
- Ability to review administrative, financial, and programmatic information in sponsor electronic systems
- Ability to administer budget adjustments, scope/personnel changes, extensions, subawards, reporting, and closeout documentation
- Ability to communicate with and guide principal investigators, departmental support staff, and research administration personnel
