About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support pre- and post-award research and financial administration for individual investigators
  • Manage complex clinical research grants, training grants, and program project grants with multiple sub-contracts
  • Work with Principal Investigators on proposal development, budget development, and pre-award submissions
  • Monitor and review grant charges and expenditures for compliance with sponsor regulations and guidelines
  • Reconcile grant accounts and budgets and prepare monthly financial reports for Principal Investigators
  • Work with payroll coordinators, purchasing, and accounts payable to allocate expenses appropriately
  • Advise faculty on University policies and procedures
  • Manage post-award activity and resolve issues in accordance with University policy
  • Liaise across research departments
  • Provide guidance on electronic submission of grant activities
  • Assist with preparation and submission of reports
  • Participate in annual budget submission and financial analysis
  • Partner with, mentor, and train other Grants Managers
  • Report to the Administrative and Financial Officer
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required for Grants Manager A
  • Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required for Grants Manager B
  • Greater grants management experience for Grants Manager B
  • Ability to work independently on complex grants, including clinical research grants, training grants, and program project grants with multiple sub-contracts
  • Knowledge of sponsor and University policies, sponsor regulations and guidelines, and OMB Uniform Guidance
  • Ability to prepare and review grant proposals and budgets
  • Ability to manage pre-award and post-award sponsored program funds
  • Ability to monitor expenditures, reconcile accounts, process payroll and effort reports, and prepare financial reports
  • Ability to ensure Regulatory Affairs requirements and Conflict of Interest statement submissions are satisfied
  • Background check may be required after a conditional job offer
