About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in IT security incident response services for UT Knoxville departments, units, and colleges
- Contribute to deployment and management of technical security solutions across systems, networks, SaaS, PaaS, and/or databases
- Engage with University of Tennessee personnel on problem resolution, training, and IT security policy and procedure guidance
- Monitor and administer security tools including EDR/XDR and SIEM
- Provide input into the holistic enhancement of the IT Security Program
- Streamline security functions through automation using PowerShell, Python, KQL, and similar tools
- Fulfill service requests for assigned systems, networks, and/or databases
- Assist with the vulnerability management program
- Update security procedures
- Remediate compromised accounts and workstations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- No experience required if holding one of the preferred degrees/licenses/certifications; otherwise, minimum 1 year of experience providing Information Security services
- Knowledge of security concepts and enterprise responses
- Ability to work with personnel and provide solutions
- Organization, communication, analysis, and troubleshooting skills
- Security skills related to EDR and SIEM
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without now or future sponsorship for an employment-based visa
- Preferred: Associate degree or higher in computer science, IT Management, or an IT-related field
- Preferred: Two years’ experience providing information security services
- Preferred: Experience in higher education environments
- Preferred: Knowledge of vulnerability management program goals and implementation
- Preferred: Ability to interface with senior technical and business management
- Preferred: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or GIA certifications
- Preferred: Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel security skills
- Preferred: KQL, PowerShell, or Python skills
