Key responsibilities & impact

Create a broad range of physical and magical simulations and effects
Work across advertising, long-form, and real-time projects
Create believable effects consistent with each project's look and feel
Build scalable, team-friendly FX setups
Prototype ideas quickly and efficiently
Produce Houdini FX including fluid, POP particle, pyro, bullet, and destruction simulations
Shade, light, and render with Mantra or Arnold
Supply FX renders to compositing
Create setups and tools for the wider team
Collaborate with other departments to deliver shots to a high standard
Contribute to Houdini FX pipeline and tools discussions
Develop and share ideas with peers and the team

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience as an FX artist in the visual effects industry
Experience producing effects in Houdini, including fluid, POP particle, pyro, bullet, and destruction FX simulations
Good understanding of vector and matrix manipulation
Experience balancing aesthetic quality with technical accuracy
Experience shading, lighting, and rendering with Mantra or Arnold
Experience creating scalable, team-friendly FX setups and tools
Ability to work alongside other departments and deliver high-quality shots
Ability to contribute to Houdini FX pipeline and tools discussions
Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas clearly and professionally
Ability to manage time efficiently through multitasking and prioritization
Ability to interpret direction and address constructive feedback
Understanding of Python and VEX desirable
Experience using PDG desirable
