About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, test, and operate cloud-based microservices using Java/Spring Boot and Kafka
Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests as part of daily work
Contribute to product design by writing technical specifications clear enough to guide engineers and AI agents
Use AI-assisted development, including coding agents, AI code review, and spec-driven workflows, and help evolve these practices
Work with Unzer Tech standards and processes and help improve them
Participate actively in team and organizational knowledge-sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience with Java 21+ and Spring Boot
Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed systems
Experience with SQL databases, including schema design and migrations; NoSQL is a plus
Experience with microservices, event-driven messaging (Kafka, Avro), and Git-based workflows (feature branches, pull requests, code review)
Diligent testing, ideally test-first/TDD, and documentation of deliveries
Experience in architecture design, such as Domain-Driven Design, and common design patterns
Experience with observability tools such as Coralogix or OpenTelemetry
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants/agents, such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, including critically reviewing, testing, and owning generated code
Hands-on mentality
Nice to have: frontend experience with Angular
Nice to have: know-how in delivering software to AWS
Nice to have: Docker, Kubernetes and GitOps experience, such as Argo CD
Nice to have: experience building agentic workflows, including MCP integrations, custom agent skills, and AI steps in CI
Nice to have: experience in regulated environments, such as payments, PCI-DSS, and GDPR
