About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work from UPL’s Global Research facility located in RTP, NC
- Work with UPL’s seed and soil health team in North America to verify and validate seed treatment formulation performance in custom blends and mixtures
- Evaluate custom blends for crops including soybean, corn, sorghum, cotton, peanut, rice and wheat, and conduct stability studies
- Treat seed, certify seed treatment samples and custom blends before shipping to distributors and seed companies
- Maintain records of shipping details for custom blends, experimental samples and commercial samples
- Conduct seed treatment performance tests and shelf-life studies of treated seeds
- Develop and validate methods to analyze seed-treatment formulations using HPLC, GC and particle analyzer
- Apply knowledge of polymers, pigments and inoculants in seed-treatment formulations and conduct bioassays to demonstrate efficacy
- Write protocols and reports, document results in laboratory notebooks and present scientific findings in cross-functional project-team meetings
- Support the Technical Lab Lead in maintaining the North America seed-treatment lab, lab instruments, seed and soil-health initiatives, SOPs and safety standards, and provide greenhouse assistance
- Collaborate with the India seed-treatment lab, Global Seed Treatment team and US New Ag Tech team to analyze and validate formulations and support research and development needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the Agricultural chemical or related industry preferred
- Previous experience with different seed treatments or agrochemical formulations development a plus
- Hands-on experience with analytical instruments like HPLC, GC, particle analyzer, etc. to characterize ST formulations is a plus
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven attention to detail, with excellent analytical, problem solving and personal organization skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and under pressure
- Ability to become certified in safe handling and shipping of agriculture chemicals
