About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Improve processes impacting the accounting month-end and year-end close process
- Assist in developing and implementing robust internal accounting controls
- Prepare and record general ledger entries
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Own the accounting for assigned areas including cash, prepaid, and accrual
- Prepare monthly flux analyses, corporate department reports and other reporting as needed
- Assist in review of fixed assets in accordance with the capitalization policy
- Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare supporting files and documentation for SEC filings, including 10-Qs and 10-Ks
- Coordinate the annual external audit and quarterly reviews by providing documentation, explanations and support as needed
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes as needed
- Support management in the implementation of transformation efforts and continuous accounting system improvements
- Collaborate across departments and business partners such as IT, SEC reporting, FP&A, shared services and tax regarding corporate accounting tasks
- Support the Assistant Controller and senior management with special projects and strategic initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance
- Proven experience with ERP systems; experience with system implementations or upgrades is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- CoStar and/or LeaseQuery experience a plus
- Submit to a criminal background check
- Legal right to work in the United States
- Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines
- Travel to remote Radio One locations may be required
