About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Partner with the buyer to create timely product assortments that meet or exceed department sales and profit goals
- Execute the company's vision and respond to customer feedback and market trends
- Facilitate the product life-cycle from conception through post-season analysis
- Support the growth and success of the assistant buyer and merchandise assistant
- Analyze weekly sales, stock, and on-order data to optimize sales and minimize markdowns
- Run attribute reports and monitor sales, on-hand, and on-order levels
- Manage financial elements including OTB, IMU, and markdowns for assigned classes
- Manage styles to plan across looks, silhouettes, fabrics, patterns, colors, and price points
- Contact vendors and place reorders
- Identify products and trends appealing to customers
- Manage product development timelines with Own Brand design and production teams
- Develop Only at Anthro products with market partners
- Participate in fit, technical, design, and product review sessions
- Attend fittings and standardize sizing and fit
- Attend local markets and shows with the Buyer
- Shop stores, competitors, and inspirational sources to understand customer needs
- Monitor trend publications and social media for emerging trends
- Participate in ranking, writing, and negotiating orders
- Initiate purchase order requests to maintain TNA
- Communicate order changes and concerns with vendors
- Coordinate extensions and initiate appropriate penalties
- Negotiate RTVs and manage fit and quality issues
- Pull store samples for quality-control issues
- Communicate concept and trend information to stores
- Build relationships with design and production teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 5 years within a buying role in a retail environment
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time
- Strong communication skills
- Strong understanding of fashion trends and the Anthropologie customer
