About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with Design, Buying, Tech Design, Materials, Production, and external partners to execute product development and IMU goals
  • Own commercialization of products from handoff through buy-ready salesman samples and bulk production
  • Develop and maintain factory partnerships through bulk production for assigned styles
  • Plan, delegate, and track workflow according to critical dates, product end use, sustainability, quality, performance, and margin goals
  • Partner with Materials teams and suppliers on end-use requirements, testing, materials commercialization, risk assessment, and decision-making
  • Analyze cost breakdowns and manage costing data in PLM
  • Identify cost savings, efficient manufacturing, and construction opportunities while protecting product integrity
  • Ensure accurate information and communication throughout product execution
  • Plan, follow, and communicate development calendars and facilitate handoff to production vendors
  • Troubleshoot development and manufacturing issues and incorporate learnings into future seasons
  • Present alternative construction options to meet margin goals while maintaining design intent, product integrity, and functionality
  • Drive continuous improvement with suppliers, Tech Design, and Design teams
  • Compile accurate copy and product features for marketing materials and provide expert product support for in-store marketing, events, and online content
  • Streamline Product Development processes to improve speed to market, resources, quality, and efficiency
  • Manage multi-season development calendars and report seasonal progress in PLM
  • Lead cross-functional projects and maintain strong internal and external communication focused on superior product quality
  • Travel internationally to visit vendors for development and cost negotiations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Product Development, Textile Science, or related field
  • 12 years of experience developing technical or performance outerwear, including ski, snowboarding, rainwear, or outdoor apparel
  • Strong understanding of functional garment construction, fabric performance, and technical specifications
  • Experience with waterproof/breathable laminates, taped seams, insulated systems, and functional trims
  • Strong knowledge of global sourcing, manufacturing, and the costing process
  • Ability to anticipate category business needs and develop creative, long-term solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe software, PLM systems, or similar database systems
  • Keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Deadline driven, proactive approach to problem solving, and comfort with changing priorities
  • High sense of urgency and integrity; ability to adapt quickly to change and motivation by deadlines and new challenges
  • Ability to independently travel based on years of experience in the field
