About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with Design, Buying, Tech Design, Materials, Production, and external partners to execute product development and IMU goals
- Own product commercialization from handoff through buy-ready salesman samples and bulk production
- Execute products according to operational calendars, quality, functionality, accuracy, and brand profitability goals
- Develop factory partnerships and manage assigned styles through bulk production
- Plan and delegate workflow according to critical dates, end use, sustainability, quality, performance, and margin goals
- Partner with Materials on end-use requirements, quality, sustainability, and costing
- Analyze cost breakdowns and manage costing data in PLM
- Identify cost-saving, efficient manufacturing, and construction opportunities while protecting product integrity
- Collaborate with Materials and suppliers on testing, materials commercialization, risk assessment, and decision-making
- Plan, follow, and communicate development calendars; facilitate handoff to production vendors
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and incorporate learnings into future seasons
- Present alternative construction options to meet margin goals while maintaining design intent, aesthetics, integrity, and functionality
- Create supplemental technical construction guides and standard feature packages
- Compile accurate copy and product features for marketing materials and provide product support for in-store marketing, events, and online content
- Streamline product development processes to improve speed to market, resources, quality, and efficiency
- Manage multi-season development calendars and report product development progress in PLM
- Communicate across internal and external teams to ensure product quality and planned schedules
- Demonstrate leadership in cross-functional product projects
- Travel internationally to visit vendors for development and cost negotiations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12 years of experience with background in garment wash & dyeing
- Strong understanding of functional garment construction, fabric performance, and technical specifications
- Strong knowledge of global sourcing, manufacturing, and the costing process
- Ability to anticipate category business needs and develop creative, long-term solutions
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe software, PLM systems, or similar database systems
- Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Deadline-driven with a proactive approach to problem solving and comfort with changing priorities
- High sense of urgency and integrity; adaptability to change and motivation by deadlines and new challenges
- Ability to independently travel based on years of experience in the field
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Product Development, Textile Science, or related field
