About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute product development strategies for the assigned brand and product category
  • Own product commercialization from handoff through buy-ready salesman sample and bulk production
  • Collaborate with Design, Buying, Tech Design, Materials, Production, suppliers, factories, and external partners
  • Develop products according to critical dates, end use, sustainability, quality, performance, and margin goals
  • Plan and delegate workflow for assigned styles through bulk production
  • Advise Materials on end-use quality, sustainability, and costing requirements
  • Analyze cost breakdowns and manage costing data in PLM
  • Identify cost savings, efficient manufacturing, and construction opportunities while protecting product integrity
  • Coordinate materials testing, commercialization, risk assessment, and decision-making with suppliers and Materials
  • Plan, track, and communicate multi-season development calendars and report progress in PLM
  • Facilitate handoff from product development to production vendors and troubleshoot issues
  • Present alternative construction options to meet margin goals while maintaining design intent, product integrity, and functionality
  • Drive continuous improvement through technical construction guides and standard feature packages
  • Compile accurate copy and product features for marketing materials and provide expert product support
  • Streamline product development processes to improve speed to market, resources, quality, and efficiency
  • Lead cross-functional projects and ensure finished goods meet schedules and quality standards
  • Travel internationally to visit vendors for development and cost negotiations
  • Manage a team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Product Development, Textile Science, or related field
  • 12 years of experience developing soft wovens
  • Strong understanding of functional garment construction, fabrics, and technical specifications
  • Experience working with multiple COO's
  • Strong knowledge of global sourcing, manufacturing, and the costing process
  • Ability to anticipate category business needs and develop creative, long-term solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe software, PLM systems, or similar database systems
  • Keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Deadline-driven with a proactive approach to problem solving and comfort with changing priorities
  • High sense of urgency and integrity; ability to quickly adapt to change and motivation by deadlines and new challenges
  • Ability to independently travel based on years of experience in the field
