About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle more serious and complex claims, primarily in New York jurisdictions
- Investigate and handle complex and serious New York Workers' Compensation claims and claims in other jurisdictions as needed
- Perform special claims investigations and handling matters requiring broad technical claims knowledge
- Communicate with insureds, attorneys, and other relevant parties
- Settle claims within assigned authority
- Contact attorneys concerning serious claim matters
- Review court decisions, law, and coverage interpretations
- Perform all duties and responsibilities outlined for Claims Specialist
- May assume Claims Supervisor duties during the Supervisor's absence
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4-year degree in business administration or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years as Claims Specialist or 3-4 years adjusting experience
- Lost time experience required
- Experience with NY jurisdictions preferred
- Required to obtain adjuster license(s) in the state(s) assigned for claims adjustment
- Licensing must be obtained within the Company-set timeframe and maintained as needed throughout employment
- Broad knowledge and understanding of the law and claim practices
- Technical claims knowledge

- Ability to communicate with insureds, attorneys, and other relevant parties
- Ability to operate independently with little supervision
