About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate and handle primarily New York Workers' Compensation claims of a complex and serious nature, and other jurisdictions as needed
  • Perform special claims investigation and handling matters requiring broad technical claims knowledge
  • Operate independently with little supervision
  • Settle claims within assigned authority
  • Communicate with attorneys concerning serious claim matters
  • Communicate with insureds, attorneys, and other relevant parties
  • Review court decisions, law, and coverage interpretations
  • Assume Claims Supervisor duties in the Supervisor's absence
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities outlined for Claims Specialist

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year degree in business administration or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years as Claims Specialist or 3-4 years adjusting experience
  • Lost time experience required
  • Experience with NY jurisdictions preferred
  • Required to obtain adjuster license(s) in the state(s) in which assigned to adjust claims
  • Licensing must be obtained within the timeframe set by the Company and maintained as needed throughout employment
  • Customer service experience
  • Investigative skills
  • Technical claims knowledge
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of law and claim practices
