About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including client agreements, statements of work, framework agreements, NDAs, supplier contracts, partnership agreements and subcontracting arrangements
Advise business stakeholders on contractual risks, liability, intellectual-property rights, confidentiality, data protection, termination rights and other commercial issues
Support tenders, RFPs and complex client negotiations
Act as a practical legal sparring partner for colleagues and propose workable alternatives
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable organisational guidance
Support compliance with data protection, AI, competition law, anti-bribery and other business conduct requirements
Develop, maintain and improve legal templates, playbooks, guidance materials and contracting processes
Identify recurring legal and compliance risks and contribute to scalable solutions, training and awareness initiatives
Manage external counsel when specialist advice is needed
Lead complex, strategic or cross-border matters depending on seniority and experience
Help develop junior colleagues and legal ways of working
Work closely with Business, Finance, HR, and IT & Security throughout the commercial lifecycle

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree in law (preferably Dutch)
At least 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in an in-house legal team, a law firm or a combination of both
Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, preferably in consulting, technology, IT or professional services
Commercial mindset and ability to assess risks proportionately and propose workable solutions
Experience translating legislation and regulatory requirements into practical advice, policies and processes
Knowledge of data protection and technology-related regulation
Genuine enthusiasm for technology and AI
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and build productive relationships
Confidence to take ownership, manage competing priorities and involve colleagues or external specialists when needed
Excellent written and spoken English and Dutch
Ability to draft and negotiate legal documents in English and Dutch
