About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide the highest quality and best-practice occupational therapy services to patients.
- Support the overall Mission and Vision of Valley Health.
- Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Respond to physician referrals.
- Determine skilled and medically necessary patient needs.
- Provide discipline-specific interventions to improve patient safety and functional independence through the rehabilitation process.
- Provide feedback to determine and recommend patient progression through the continuum of care.
- Establish and maintain professional competence.
- Identify educational needs and seek learning opportunities from advanced clinicians and continuing education.
- Deliver rehabilitation services in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to licensure, documentation, and billing guidelines.
- Recognize needs for program development and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain working knowledge of and support departmental, hospital, and organizational initiatives and updates.
- Stay current with communications such as emails in a professional and timely manner.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post Graduate Certificate, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
- OT License - Virginia/West Virginia licensure or transitional license at time of hire required
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required
- New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills or participation in computer training within the first year of employment.
- Competent to successfully interact with patients, according to their special needs which may apply based upon the age of the patient served - Age Specific Competencies.
- Learning and exhibiting consistent proficiency for entry level, setting defined, basic competency in the provision of discipline specific interventions.
