About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Write timely, informative technology news for MakeUseOf
- Cover PC and mobile technology, technical topics, software, streaming and gaming, and smart home technology
- Contribute reliably and consistently under tight news-cycle deadlines
- Monitor the latest technology news, product launches, and ecosystem updates
- Coordinate with the editorial team on assignments and feedback
- Input work into the in-house CMS according to editorial and SEO guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Applicants must be located in the US or Canada
- Relevant experience writing and editing tech content in English
- Ability to contextualize complex updates and explain their impact on the average user
- Strong familiarity with one or more listed coverage areas
- Ability to work and coordinate within a US time zone, preferably EST
- Self-starter
- CV, cover letter, and 2–3 relevant tech news writing samples required
- Only applications containing relevant writing samples will be considered
- Comfortable working under a 1099 freelance contract
