About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Test APIs and microservice-based systems alongside the UI
  • Run BDD collaboratively with analysts, developers and the client
  • Diagnose flaky and intermittent failures and find root causes instead of adding retries
  • Use AI coding agents to speed up test design, authoring and maintenance, and rigorously verify their output
  • Define how AI-assisted and agent-driven testing is done on the project, including instruction files, reusable prompts and review gates
  • Extend automation coverage into mobile as project needs require, with support
  • Coach colleagues and share effective practices in the QA community
  • Explain quality risk and technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Work independently, plan your own work, and influence team and wider QA community practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years in test automation, including 2+ years of hands-on Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript in production
  • Strong command of Playwright’s core model: fixtures, locator strategy, auto-waiting, network interception and mocking, trace-based debugging, parallel execution
  • Experience testing responsive and mobile-web behavior with Playwright, including device emulation, viewports, touch, and cross-browser testing
  • Proven experience defining and implementing a framework architecture
  • API automation and microservices testing, with HTTP and network inspection tools
  • CI/CD experience with any major pipeline tool
  • Practical BDD experience in an Agile team
  • Working AI-assisted practice, including generating tests with AI and identifying tests that pass but prove nothing
  • Confidence to question and challenge from a testing perspective, and curiosity to become a subject-matter expert quickly
  • Hands-on native mobile automation on iOS and/or Android, ideally Appium with WebdriverIO
  • Experience with another automation stack, such as Selenium-based or a non-JS framework
  • Experience building or orchestrating multi-step AI agent workflows for test generation, execution or triage
  • Performance or cloud testing exposure
  • Mentoring, conference talks, or blogging
