About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Instruct small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and high scores on ACT and SAT exams
- Track student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum
- Engage students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules
- Hold students accountable for assignments
- Model professionalism and strong organizational skills through timely student communication
- Lead development and creative execution of evolving lesson plans and curriculum
- Mentor middle and high school students through the college application process
- Work during the stated operating hours
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from US Schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.)
- Teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center (1+ years)
- Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction
- Commitment to work during the stated hours of operations
- Experience teaching at the college or community college level preferred
- Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy
- Ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples
- Desire to help students recognize, reach for, and realize their fullest potential
- Dynamic and outgoing personality
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
