About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Instruct small core groups of students in foundational math skills to support long-term mastery and top ACT/SAT scores
- Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum
- Engage students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities
- Reply to students in a timely manner
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules on the online platform
- Hold students accountable for assignments
- Develop and creatively execute evolving lesson plans and curriculum
- Mentor middle and high school students as they navigate college preparation
- Collaborate with instructors, counselors, and specialists to foster student success
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, education, or related STEM field from US Schools (Master’s or higher preferred; open to those near graduation)
- At least 1 year of teaching experience in math and/or experience working in a community college or college-level tutoring center
- Academic history demonstrating high achievement, e.g., 3.5+ GPA
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
- Reliable internet connection and dedicated, quiet workspace
- Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy
- Ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples
- Engaging communication skills and ability to make complex math approachable
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Mastery of SAT and ACT Math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics
