About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, scope, and lead large technical projects
- Lay the groundwork for core products to evolve and scale into highly performant, reliable, and customizable systems
- Design, develop, and own new product functionality and/or infrastructure using TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Make tradeoffs considering business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
- Set technical direction across multiple teams in privacy and AI governance
- Help establish engineering practices in the UK/Ireland, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding teammates
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership
- Partner with product management, product design, and engineering teams to develop privacy, AI, and risk-management features
- Grow Vanta’s engineering presence in Europe and accelerate product development
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 10 years of industry experience as a software engineer
- Served as a technical lead for large projects (6+ months in length), including defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions
- Set technical direction or built systems whose impact extended beyond the immediate team
- Built successful SaaS products for both startup and enterprise users
- Previous startup experience, or experience in an environment that prioritizes a bias for action
- Upleveled teams of engineers by mentoring and leading by example
- Experience working at rapidly scaling startups and large companies
- Experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Ability to work in Ireland/UK location arrangement and meet the stated office or travel requirements
