About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the design and multi-quarter delivery of Vanta's enterprise organizational model
- Build support for hierarchical product lines and business units, isolated data access and ownership, cross-cutting audit workflows, scoped approvals, and EU and GovCloud data residency
- Define and evolve core platform abstractions for diverse and conflicting enterprise requirements
- Retrofit a live production system toward a multi-tenant organizational structure
- Design safe migration paths and sequence incremental delivery while preserving continuity for existing customers
- Ship meaningful customer value each quarter through clear incremental deliverables
- Engage directly with enterprise customers and apply product judgment
- Drive execution across squads through technical clarity and credibility
- Partner with Engineering leadership, Product, and Design on phased deliverables
- Set technical standards, define reusable patterns, shape architecture across teams, and model engineering excellence
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of deep backend engineering experience
- Track record of leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives in fast-paced, product-focused environments
- Experience designing platform abstractions for conflicting enterprise requirements across a diverse customer base
- Track record of shipping large, structurally complex problems incrementally
- Experience operating effectively across squads and teams without direct ownership
- Deep familiarity with tenancy models, role-based access control, data isolation, scoped permissions, cross-tenant operations, and access boundary design
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex systems to engineering leadership, product partners, and customer-facing stakeholders
- Data residency or GovCloud exposure is a plus
- Openness to using AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact
