About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish and lead Vantage's global media relations function
- Develop and execute a proactive, narrative-driven global media strategy aligned with corporate growth, reputation, public affairs, and business objectives
- Transform media engagement from reactive response management to proactive narrative development and thought leadership
- Establish annual media objectives, strategic priorities, and measurable outcomes
- Build a scalable global media relations function, including organizational design, operating model, governance, and agency management
- Serve as Vantage's senior media relations spokesperson and advisor to executive leadership
- Support corporate announcements, transactions, milestones, events, and issues management
- Build relationships with journalists, editors, producers, analysts, influencers, and local media
- Create reporter education programs about data centers, digital infrastructure, energy use, sustainability, economic impact, and community benefits
- Develop and pitch stories demonstrating the value of data centers to communities, economies, customers, and society
- Position Vantage and executives as thought leaders in AI infrastructure, sustainability, energy innovation, economic development, workforce development, and public policy
- Lead media strategy and response planning for business issues, crises, and reputation matters
- Monitor and address misinformation, disinformation, and media inaccuracies
- Partner with Public Policy, Government Affairs, Sustainability, Legal, Operations, regional marketing, and executive leadership teams
- Secure media opportunities, interviews, profiles, editorial board meetings, podcasts, and speaking engagements
- Develop executive media engagement strategies and media training programs
- Strengthen media relationships in local communities where Vantage develops and operates data centers
- Establish media monitoring and intelligence programs tracking coverage, sentiment, share of voice, message penetration, spokesperson visibility, journalist engagement, and reputation trends
- Build, lead, and mentor a global media relations team expected to grow to approximately four professionals within 18 months
- Manage agency relationships and external partners
- Support special projects and represent Vantage externally with media, associations, industry groups, and stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Political Science, Marketing, or related field required
- 15+ years of progressive media relations, corporate communications, public affairs, or reputation management experience
- Minimum 7 years of leadership experience managing teams and complex communications programs
- Proven success building and leading proactive media relations programs in large, global organizations
- Established relationships with national business, trade, technology, and policy media strongly preferred
- Experience in complex, highly visible, highly regulated, politically sensitive, or scrutinized industries strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success influencing public narratives and managing high-profile issues
- Exceptional media relations, storytelling, executive communications, and strategic planning skills
- Deep understanding of crisis communications, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement
- Experience working across global markets and matrixed organizations
- Strong executive presence and ability to advise and influence senior leaders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of digital media monitoring and analytics platforms
- Knowledge of data center, digital infrastructure, technology, energy, telecommunications, industrial, real estate, or related sectors preferred
- Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) Style strongly desired
- Travel expected up to 25%, potentially increasing as the business evolves
