About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and execute the global sourcing strategy for mechanical parts and tooling
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams through the Category Focus Team
  • Obtain management approval for category strategies and action plans
  • Communicate sourcing strategies to internal stakeholders through meetings, training, preferred-supplier lists, and strategy statements
  • Drive execution of approved strategies using action plans, ownership, and measurable KPIs
  • Approve the introduction of new suppliers
  • Provide quarterly reporting, risk escalation, and performance tracking
  • Own end-to-end supplier relationship management for mechanical and tooling suppliers
  • Define supplier segmentation and relationship models
  • Establish and lead supplier governance frameworks
  • Conduct Supplier Business Reviews covering cost, quality, delivery, innovation, roadmaps, capacity, and risk mitigation
  • Expand supplier collaboration into innovation, customer approaches, standards bodies, and third parties
  • Lead price negotiations across the mechanical category portfolio
  • Participate in new product development and design-win negotiations
  • Build cost models using cost breakdowns and market price data
  • Apply eRFQs, e-auctions, Total Cost of Ownership analysis, cost breakdowns, and cost models
  • Negotiate payment terms, Incoterms, flexibility, development funds, exclusivity, and supplier contracts
  • Partner with Legal to minimize commercial and supply risks and maximize value creation
  • Oversee mechanical and tooling activities from supplier selection through mass production
  • Lead supplier baseline assessments and continuous improvement plans
  • Drive tooling design, molding efficiency, cost optimization, productivity, speed-to-market, and on-time delivery
  • Support DFM reviews, tooling validation, and execution across multiple suppliers
  • Challenge designs to optimize manufacturability, cost, and quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement
  • Strong experience managing global suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Knowledge of injection molding and tooling design
  • Knowledge of polymer materials and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with DFM analysis, tooling development, validation, and process optimization
  • Experience in stamping and die-casting is a plus
  • 3D CAD knowledge is an advantage
  • Proven negotiation expertise with complex supplier contracts
  • Ability to build and analyze cost models and business cases
  • Ability to challenge supplier pricing and internal design assumptions
  • Demonstrated capability in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
  • Experience driving supplier business reviews and improvement programs
  • Strong risk management and issue resolution skills
  • Experience in purchasing electronic materials or knowledge of electronic components is highly preferred
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to influence without authority in a matrix environment
  • Results-driven, analytical, and proactive mindset
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural, global environment
  • Strong team player able to drive cross-functional alignment
