About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, implement, and maintain embedded software features and enhancements for the PrisMax platform
  • Support software development from requirements through implementation, integration, verification, release, and sustaining engineering
  • Participate in software architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews
  • Develop unit tests and support automated testing initiatives
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects using structured root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to understand product requirements and maintain traceability across requirements, design, implementation, and testing
  • Support risk management activities, including hazard analysis and software-related mitigations
  • Assist with software verification and validation in compliance with medical device regulations and standards
  • Work with electrical and systems engineering teams to diagnose hardware/software integration issues
  • Contribute to cybersecurity, reliability, and performance improvements
  • Support design history file documentation and engineering deliverables in a regulated development environment
  • Participate in Agile planning, estimation, and sprint execution

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 0–2+ years of engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or academic projects
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or C
  • Understanding of embedded software fundamentals, including real-time systems, microcontrollers and processors, hardware/software interfaces, debugging techniques, and communication protocols
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Preferred: Experience with RTOS-based development or embedded Linux
  • Preferred: Familiarity with ARM-based processors and embedded development tools
  • Preferred: Exposure to SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, or Ethernet
  • Preferred: Experience with Git and modern software development workflows
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Python or scripting languages used for test automation
  • Preferred: Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD concepts
  • Preferred: Understanding of cybersecurity concepts for connected medical devices
  • Preferred: Exposure to regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or industrial controls
