About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and contribute to software development efforts supporting mission-critical systems
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot within a distributed architecture
Work with open-source tools supporting big data, geospatial imagery, and remote sensing applications
Collaborate within a cross-functional Agile team using modern development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles
Drive containerization and orchestration efforts using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Rancher
Support infrastructure and deployment automation using Jenkins, Helm, and Bash/Shell/Python scripting
Integrate and maintain third-party tools including Keycloak, OpenSearch, Fluent Bit, and Cesium
Contribute to system architecture decisions, performance tuning, and backend optimization
Work with PostgreSQL and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch data platforms
Support integration and system-level testing automation
Engage with stakeholders for demos, troubleshooting, and mission objectives
Independently solve complex technical challenges and document solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be a U.S. Citizen / U.S. Person
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend focus
Experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, and OpenShift
Experience with Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Gradle, and Helm
Familiarity with Linux-based environments and Bash/Shell scripting
Experience integrating or working with Keycloak, Kibana, Fluent Bit, or similar
Must be willing and able to work onsite in Herndon, VA
Active TS/SCI clearance preferred
Preferred experience with Atlassian tools, React or Vue.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ORM frameworks, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, geospatial or remote sensing applications, CI/CD pipelines, C++, C, Scala, Cypress, and Agile/Scrum
