About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of four engineers across billing, fraud, and outbound telephony
  • Partner with the PM for Enterprise & Governance to set priorities and turn the roadmap into reliable delivery
  • Coach engineers and own service reliability, on-call, and incident response
  • Learn billing, fraud, and outbound telephony systems and assess architecture, service ownership, on-call coverage, and team development needs
  • Strengthen planning and delivery routines with Product
  • Define service ownership and improve on-call and incident response practices
  • Guide architecture and code reviews
  • Deliver prioritized system improvements
  • Set expectations and growth goals for engineers
  • Own engineering delivery for billing, pricing, packaging, fraud, and outbound telephony
  • Use delivery and reliability data to prioritize improvements
  • Build development plans and identify hiring and system investments needed to scale
  • Spend approximately 60–70% of time on people management and 20–30% hands-on building, architecture, and code review

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated engineering management experience across coaching, performance, leveling, and career development
  • Experience designing scalable, reliable enterprise systems and leading engineers through complex technical problems
  • Strong hands-on coding, architecture, and system design skills
  • Experience owning reliable services and improving on-call and incident response practices
  • Experience partnering with a PM and translating product requirements into technical plans
  • Billing systems experience is a strong plus
  • Experience hiring and building a small engineering team is a plus
  • Experience in trust and safety, fraud/risk, voice/telephony, or outbound-call compliance is a plus
  • Experience scaling a newly formed team is a plus
  • Ability to work in the San Francisco office 3–5 days a week
  • Authorization to work in the US
