About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure services run smoothly, remain highly available, and are cost-effective
Monitor and resolve production problems with zero or minimal business impact
Handle and resolve Cloud Operations requests according to standard procedures
Support, optimize, and improve production environments as part of a cloud engineering squad
Perform proactive maintenance of supported customer environments
Manage application infrastructures across geographically dispersed data centers
Work with application teams to automate application setup, deployment, and configuration
Develop technical solutions to automate processes and improve business operations
Monitor and tune application infrastructure for performance, availability, and resource utilization
Engineer and deploy releases, enhancements, upgrades, and new applications across non-production and production environments
Maintain internal tooling, processes, and procedures and contribute to improvement plans and roadmaps
Provide input on scalability, capacity planning, and high availability
Collaborate with Architecture, Development, and Quality Assurance teams on technical planning
Act as subject matter expert for new features and enhancements and share knowledge with the team
Lead technical discussions and design for new projects
Identify process improvements and improve operations workflows with stakeholders
Progress from learning and shadowing during the first 30 days to independently managing Cloud Operations tasks by 90 days

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
2–4 years of professional experience in a DevOps role
Previous experience working on a client-facing product or service in production
Exposure to modern SaaS application architecture
Knowledge of IaaS and cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
Experience in automation and software development with Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++, or PL/SQL
Scripting capability in PowerShell, BASH, or Python
Knowledge of Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation
Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration, including RedHat/CentOS and Ubuntu
Knowledge of networking principles, firewalls, load balancers, hardware configurations, and database servers
Experience implementing, delivering, and troubleshooting CI/CD build pipelines using Jenkins, Git, GitHub, and AWS integration
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including container application implementation and troubleshooting
Experience in SQL and PostgreSQL server administration, backup/recovery, and T-SQL scripting
Strong knowledge of NewRelic and CloudWatch
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and frameworks
