About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement fraud strategies using transaction data, machine learning models, and advanced analytics tools.
  • Manage and optimize strategies for first-party and third-party fraud, balancing risk and customer experience.
  • Coordinate Risk Analytics team tasks, SLAs, projects, and output quality.
  • Monitor client fraud trends and recommend procedure changes.
  • Maintain department workflow and ensure time-sensitive functions meet standards.
  • Advise internal contacts on sensitive issues, client procedures, and new product developments.
  • Create and deliver BI reporting for senior leadership, boards, and examiners.
  • Work with designated clients through calls and emails to support fraud mitigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business objectives and solution strategies.
  • Present analytical recommendations using communication materials and visualization techniques.
  • Identify quality data sources, perform testing and exploratory data analysis, and resolve data hygiene issues.
  • Write fraud rules, build custom client solutions, and monitor client-group fraud.
  • Identify fraud-related risk exposure, conduct root-cause analysis, and determine mitigation measures.
  • Consult clients on fraud goals, performance metrics, fraud tools, and risk-reduction strategies.
  • Serve as client advocate for fraud and risk items and special projects.
  • Identify, measure, monitor, control, and report business and information security risks.
  • Bring innovative thinking to problem-solving and make recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Economics or related field or combination of education and experience required.
  • Five (5) years within the financial service industry required.
  • Three (3) years professional experience in risk analytics, mitigating risk and/or fraud services required.
  • Payments processing system knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Fraud Detection Work Center and/or FDR system required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Deep experience working with fraud detection strategies, rules tuning, and fraud modeling.
  • Strong proficiency with SQL.
  • Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
  • Experience with fraud orchestration and decisioning tools (e.g., DefenseEdge, Falcon, Advance Defense, Fraud Navigator) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fraud metrics, forecasting methods, and false positive/true fraud tradeoffs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate technical subject matter clearly and succinctly.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Some on-call work required.
  • Availability during early/late hours and weekends may be required.
