About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer United States benefits, wellness, retirement, and payroll support programs
  • Complete employment verifications by phone and in writing
  • Maintain accurate benefits enrollments and perform benefits-data quality checks in the HRIS
  • Assist employees with benefits claims, plan changes, enrollments, status changes, and general inquiries
  • Manage end-to-end leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, and state-mandated leaves
  • Apply federal, state, and local leave and accommodation regulations
  • Issue required leave notices and paperwork within regulatory timelines
  • Manage the ADA interactive process with HR Business Partners and managers
  • Track leave usage, return-to-work dates, benefits continuation, and payroll coordination
  • Maintain confidential leave records and monitor changes in leave laws
  • Respond to retirement plan inquiries and manage annual catch-up contribution enrollment
  • Support annual open enrollment, including system setup, testing, communications, enrollment support, and audits
  • Process life events and administer post-employment COBRA continuation coverage
  • Support payroll partners during payroll cycles
  • Reconcile benefits deductions, employer contributions, invoices, vendor files, and carrier files
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit questions and resolve escalated issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related experience
  • At least two (2) years of payroll processing and benefit support experience
  • Hands-on experience with payroll/HRIS software; ExponentHR highly desired
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make timely, sound, and accurate decisions
  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to strict payroll deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Benefits administration experience, including open enrollment, life events, and COBRA, preferred
  • Leave of absence administration experience, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and state-mandated leave programs, strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local leave and accommodation regulations
  • Multi-state payroll experience, including final pay laws, preferred
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural, global environment
