About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Troubleshoot and support the facility’s electrical and controls systems and processes
- Design technical electrical and controls projects
- Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical/electronic machinery components
- Follow electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
- Troubleshoot, program, and maintain PLCs
- Inspect and test electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits
- Diagnose malfunctioning transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, and other apparatus
- Replace damaged or broken wires, cables, switches, and electrical/mechanical components
- Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures
- Install, repair, overhaul, modify, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery
- Maintain plant power distribution systems, perform preventive maintenance, and install wiring, conduit, and apparatus
Requirements
What you’ll need- Journeyman Electrician or hold an electrical license
- At least 5 years industrial experience, preferably in a food plant or with high-speed packaging equipment
- Ability to diagnose electrical and controls problems and make proper repairs
- Ability to read and communicate in English to read and understand electrical prints
- Ability to wire high and low voltage, including control power
- Ability to lay out a wiring project from transformer to equipment
- Proficiency with PC and PLC controls and logic
- Working knowledge and experience with Ladder Logic
- Working knowledge of electronic and electrical test equipment, including digital and analog volt/ohm-meters, oscilloscopes, data analyzers, and circuit testers
- Working knowledge of electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Waukesha, Wisconsin
- Ability to work typical 8–12 hour shifts, with additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends as required
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required
- Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance
- Ability to work in adverse temperatures, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, food allergens, confined or dark spaces, and at heights exceeding 18 feet
